Would their houses light up and would their thirst be quenched if not for the terrorists?
WASHINGTON - Electricity and water projects will be an early priority for nearly $1.5 billion a year in new U.S. non military aid for Pakistan expected to be passed by the Senate on Sunday, senior U.S. officials said.
The aid is included in a $7.5 billion, five-year package proposed by President Barack Obama as one tool to combat extremism in Pakistan. He has called the region the "epicenter" of violence and Pakistan is seen as critical to U.S. efforts to fight the Taliban in neighboring Afghanistan.

And in addition, Pakistan is getting direct military aid from the US, $ 400 million this year and $ 700 million in 2010.
I think a minimal amount of this aid will reach those currently powerless and waterless. Most of the time it goes into the pockets of the "power"ful. Like in India, the problem is in the implementation. But I am surprised they were able to prise so much aid out of the US.....
Americans are no fools and they do not take any action without their being benefited.
Until then, Pak will use this aid money to feed and breed more terrorists.
This is "safe passage" bribe. 80% of the supplies of troops in Afghanistan passe through Pakistan. Need more be said?
The moment the returns stop being acceptable to the Americans, expect something dramatic.
Manju, Pakistanis are good at getting what they want unlike Indians...
