The Temple Treasure

Sri Padmanabha temple at Thiruvananthapuram has suddenly shot into the public eye and national limelight. So id it surprising that politicians, media, westernised Indians, rationalists and many other ill-wishers are all jostling for space.

The treasure by seems enormous, ancient and priceless. One can imagine some extra-ordinary items that represent the wealth of the royalty of those times and a peek into the richness, grandeur and culture of the time it represents.

The key question is.....This is wealth in terms of assets. Where is the money??? Seriously, does somebody believe that this treasure should be sold and the cash used for some ill-advised welfare programme with the inevitable stink of corruption tagging along.

Let us celebrate our rich legacy and preserve it for generations that will follow, to admire and learn from this amazing treasure and not squander it away.

It is an enormous responsibility and I wonder how it shall be done. There will be more vested interests than genuine ones. As a Keralite I wish it was left hidden from the public eyes...

nd this treasure is priceless... more precious than what any museum has in stock.

I echo the comment above: "As a Keralite I wish it was left hidden from the public eye"

What will happen to the lot is the question in everyone's mind...

Yes, the treasure is priceless. And it is our history.

As you say, it should be preserved for future generations and not squandered away....

My worry, my fear. Cong Govt will do whatever it can to take control of the treasure.

Well...the new Chief Minister of Kerala seems to be making all the right noises, saying that this treasure should remain with the temple itself.

Supreme Court also has given an order to take inventory and also film the whole process.

Hope and pray that it is preserved with dignity. Today and literally, God is at the mercy of politicians.

Now, the whole world knows how rich our temples are. So, temples are not going to be safe now.

The artifacts can be kept in a museum for the future generations to know about our cultural heritage, with proper security!

My views are similar to the descendants of erstwhile Travancore kings. Use the money for charity purposes or keep it in museum.

Once again this incident of Anantapadmanabha swamy temple proved india as the country of glorious history and the land of precious treasures. Who told india is the part of weakened nations. The glorious history already proved it and the hidden treasures which are coming into limelight are also proving those facts.

But, the main problem comes with the corrupted authorities and politicians. The treasure is the asset of the god and the glory of the country. Its the symbol of heritage and pride of india...I think some miracle should happen to shut the mouths of corrupted politicians behalf of god to conserve the glorious historical treasures of india to help the poor and needy of our country.
