On a mission to plant 100,000 trees

Planting 100,000 trees is the sole life mission of Chandra Bhushan Tiwari.

It all started in 1992, when he started planting a few trees outside his locality. That soon became such a pleasurable daily routine that Tiwari even left his job as a teacher to devote himself to it, prompting his friends and relatives to call him insane.

Initially, Tiwari used to buy the saplings. Now locals contribute. His wife Sushila, a teacher in a government school, takes care of the family's financial requirements.

When not planting saplings, Tiwari teaches poor students. His fee? Each student has to plant at least one tree.

Tiwari claims he has already planted 50,000 saplings till now. Let us hope that he not only accomplishes his mission but also inspires some of us to do our bit to contribute to society.

Likes of Tiwari are doing a commendable job.All they need is bit of encouragement and if possible financial help.
There is one organisation in Gurgaon called IAM GRGN.Even they are on a similar mission.

Good to hear that. We need more and more of such efforts and less and less of so-called governance which results in sapling becoming mighty trees only in the homes of politicians and administrators, or in their Swiss bank accounts!

hi India tweets.....

I just started admiring this blog and it did inspire me in many ways. Our society needs such society oriented blogs in the era of chick-lets. I hope i can contribute to this blog too.

It is really motivating to read about Tiwari's noble deeds. I will definitely plant a sapling as early as possible...
thanks a lot again :)
