MEDIA REPORTING

Yesterday ,there was a n unfortunate accident at a refinery in Jaipur.

What would one expect from the media?

Perhaps give details of the accident, relief measures and lessons learnt from the accident.

I was shocked at the following breaking news.

One TV channel late at night had breaking news.......Murl i Deora, petroleum minister to go to Jaipur

Another Channel early morning...........Breaking News...............Deora on way to Jaipur.

After a while,.................Breaking News..................................Deora reaches Jaipur.

Is this what is expected from the media?

I would have expected better reporting from screaming headline anchors.

For some reason, our media has begun to cover every event and misfortune from behind the shoulders of VIPs. That is because the kind of people who are coming into the media ave learnt is that the only way to achieving the visibility and power that they seek is there and nowhere else.

Breaking news is a joke the world over ! It is hardly of significance and even if it is they dwell on what's sensational and profitable for their TRP. 4 th estate is worse than the scoundrel politicians we have..
