This is not happening in remote areas where the Indian state has failed and Maoists hold sway. This is right under its seat in Delhi.
A routine regularisation process of 87 beldars working for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has revealed that while they have been drawing salary for the past 15 years, they have got no work records. Some senior officials have, however, been signing their daily work book.
There have been reports that as many as 46,000 of the 100,000 employees on the rolls of the MCD could be non-existent.
If this can happen in India's capital in broad daylight, one can imagine what has been happening elsewhere for decades, and where bulk of the funds allotted for NREGA must be going.
Ghost employees create 'ghost' millionaires. India must have the maximum number of both in the world.

Between the above, and the news that a son of a Maharashtra MLA (Avhaad), allocated funds by fudging his father's signatures for years, while his MLA father lay in a coma in hospital, I do not know who is worse. The Delhi paper pushers, or sons who push papers of the greener type as their father hovers between life and death. We certainly have many ghost millionaires. With "dosts" everywhere , who "boast" ........
Nor do I. Our system has been hollowed from within and is being increasingly taken over by millionaire 'ghosts'.

if one is to take a survey of all our govt jobs, then I am sure most of the existing posts are not needed at all.. but then I am sure most of those who are in has paid much to get in :)
You are absolutely right on both counts. The government is hopelessly overstaffed and and many have to pay to get in.
The more you look, the dirtier the picture gets.
There is no limit that we can stoop down to.
When such incidents are reported ,we get angry,we react and finally we accept the reality.
Can one imagine that there must be hundreds of such corrupt practices being followed by the Govt
But ,who cares. We deserve such leadership.
